A 'Switch' event is a within-plan transfer that allows you to move a portion of your investment from one or more funds to one or more alternate funds. Note: All funds involved must be associated with the same plan.
Ensure that the correct plan is selected and click to select the Switch event. The system displays the Calculation wizard with the Calculation Type 'Switch' selected.
Notice that the default Transaction Date is Today's date.
From the Source drop-down list, select a source for which to make the switch, or alternately select All sources.
Click Next to display the From Fund(s) screen.
Using the option buttons provided, select the first fund from which you want to transfer money and enter the Amount to be moved from this fund in the field provided.
Select the second fund. Notice that as you select the second fund, the Amount entered for the first fund is saved.
Select all 'from' funds as required and enter transfer/switch amounts. In this case, $5000.00 is to be moved from the Diversified fund and $1000.00 from the Cash Account.
Click Next to display the To Fund(s) screen.
Using the option buttons provided, select the first fund to which you want to transfer and enter the Amount in the field provided.
Select the second fund. Notice that as you select the second fund, the amount entered for the first fund is saved and the 'Total Allocated' and 'Total Remaining' amounts are updated.
Select funds and enter switch amounts until the Total Remaining amount is zero. In this case, $3000.00 is transferred to the Money Market fund and $3000.00 to the GIC 36 6 Month fund.
Click Next to display the Summary.
If the Summary is correct, click Finish. The system displays the request and confirmation number message.
If the Summary is correct, click Finish. The system displays your Calculation History browser.
Note: If you initially select a plan for which Switches are not allowed, you will receive an error message similar to the following:
