Plan Administration: The CPAS Version 5 application is designed for use by financial institutions, plan sponsor A plan sponsor is the party that establishes and maintains a plan. The person could be a single employer that maintains an employee benefit plan, an employee organization, or an association, committee, joint board of trustees or other similar group of representatives of the parties involved.s and third party administrators to administer all types of plans (defined contribution/investments, defined benefit, or group benefits).
The system handles multiple clients, plans and employers. All calculations are performed in accordance with user-defined plan rules, giving administrators maximum control and flexibility. The system tracks all members, transactions, calculations, business processes, and more, for all client plans.
Data Security: CPAS Version 5's security features are designed to protect your data. The system denies access to unauthorized personnel. For authorized users, it limits access at the component, browser, process, event, and/or column level. All of these elements can be configured to comply with client specifications. The system automatically runs data validations each time it performs calculations, batches, imports, or procedures. In addition, CPAS provides a configurable audit system
Administrative Processes: CPAS Version 5 includes Administrative Process/Workflow functionality, where users can quickly update member or employer data and perform user-defined administrative processes. For all processes, the system tracks all events by user. Note: Administrative processes are accessed in a Web environment via CPAS Online.
Accounting Functionality: CPAS Version 5 has a fund-accounting component that tracks all accounts. Although the system automatically updates accounts via for example, a batch procedure, plan administrators can also manually access and update account information.
Batch Processing: To assist the administrator, the system provides a number of batch procedures that perform mass transactions such as enrollments, credit interest updates, disbursements, year-ends, etc. Batch procedures also generate reports and statements. Most batches can be run immediately, or scheduled to run automatically (either one-at-a-time or in groups) at a given date and time using the Batch Scheduler A CPAS feature that allows users to set up and run a batch job automatically using pre-defined start date/time, frequency, output, and other parameters..
Standard Reports and Statements: The system comes equipped with pre-defined standard reports and statements, however custom report definitions using Cognos, Crystal Reports, or Microsoft Word as the external report writer, can be easily added. Reports can be saved, printed, or exported to a file.
Interface with Other Systems: CPAS Version 5 has full ASCII data import/export capabilities, making it possible to integrate with other systems, such as Payroll, Human Resources, or GL Accounts.
CPAS Version 5 uses a distributed data architecture (e.g. program and data files can be stored separately). This architecture allows you to store files quickly on a central server with little or no security risk.
Additional Flexibility:
User-defined Preferences: CPAS Version 5 allows each user to configure his/her own desktop application (browser appearance (colour, font), date styles, window/toolbar display, search options, etc.).
Multi-language and multi-currency functionality: CPAS Version 5 can be configured to display browsers and screens in any language and to use multiple currencies.
ODD (Open Data Dictionary) A file that defines the basic organization of the database, including all Table Structures and View Definitions within CPAS Version 5. Users can modify the Data Dictionary.: Knowledgeable users can modify the existing data dictionary as required. For example, a technical user can change captions, add codes and validations, program plan rules, or even define new tables and columns. The ODD has a dynamic structure update feature that automatically generates the new source code/tables based on the changes made to the data dictionary.
Exposed Code A CPAS feature that allows technical users with sufficient security privileges to view and/or modify certain elements of the source code from within the application. Exposed code modification is used to set up or edit Plan rules.: Certain elements of the rules source code have been exposed to allow modification. Using table-based rules and/or the Rules Generator, most of the rules configuration may be performed without programming knowledge.
Data Tools The CPAS Version 5 functional area used for data imports.: Using standard import formats, users can import member or employer demographic data, contribution data for direct posting to specific funds within a plan, new fund or currency exchange rates, and service, status, or salary data. Knowledgeable users can add additional data import formats and data validation routines.
User-friendly Navigation: The CPAS Version 5 system groups all key program functions into logical components (Participants/Members, Employers, Rules, Accounts, Batches, CPAS Tools, Data Tools, and Help).
Via the Navigator, you can quickly access the component you want at the click of a button.
Via CPAS Online you can quickly access tasks, and administrative processes and events.
