CPAS Version 5 maintains the fund-source association for all calculations, including Withdrawal, Switch, Retirement, and Termination, displaying the Member's Funds by Source.
The four basic types of funds include Unitized funds A fund that fluctuates directly with the value of the securities held in the fund. (stocks and shares), Interest-bearing funds A daily interest savings fund where interest is earned on each day's final balance., GIC Guaranteed Investment Certificate - Deposit instruments most commonly available from trust companies, requiring a minimum investment at a pre-determined rate of interest for a stated term. Generally non-redeemable prior to maturity but there can be exceptions. funds, and Money Market funds A mutual fund that invests in short-term debt instruments such as Treasury bills, commercial paper, and large certificates of deposit. Also referred to as money market mutual fund (MMF)..
For ease of use, all funds (and their managers, rates, currencies, etc.) are defined and maintained at the Global level.
For each fund, the system maintains parameters such as Fund Code, Short Name, Long Name, Currency, Fund Class, Foreign Content, Trade Cut-off Time, Business Days, Holidays, Holiday Rule, Fee (%), Minimum Fee ($), Fee Deduction, Fee Type, and Status in addition to fund-type specific parameters such as, Valuation Start Date, Valuation Frequency, Matured GIC Handling, etc. See Fund Setup.
For each fund, the system maintains Fund Rate and Interest Rate tables as required.
Fund and/or currency rates may be updated manually or new rates can be imported via a batch process.
Other batch functionality associated with funds include Stock Split/Consolidation, Sweep Suspense Funds, Process Matured GICs, Income Distribution, and Income Splitting for Tax Purposes.
